In the second round of the U*Bet FA Trophy, our team faced Marsaskala from the Maltese 2nd Division. We were missing several key players, but this gave a great opportunity for others to show what they can do. They took this opportunity as an early goal from Joel Xuereb was enough to secure passage to round 3. In fact it could have been 2 or 3 as the hosts allowed us too much freedom early in the game.

We were almost punished for failing to take more chances as Marsaskala were awarded a penalty for an unfortunate handball in the area. But goalkeeper Simon Agius has been growing in stature in every game this season and saved a good penalty to maintain the lead.

The Maltese put pressure on as the game passed into the second half, but our defense held on to a deserved clean sheet and a 1-0 win. The draw for the third round has pitted us against Premier League opposition in the form of Qormi. This will be a test that we all will relish. Meanwhile, we hope to continue the good run of results tomorrow as we take on Munxar. As usual, please come to the Gozo Stadium to support your team. Kick-off is at 1pm.
