The first game in the championship pool saw us playing Nadur, and produced a disappointing result. The Blues started well and were on top in the opening stages, but a poor defensive clearance after 10 minutes presented an opportunity to Nadur and after a good save by Simon Agius, the rebound was converted to give the whites the lead.

Simon was to produce another outstanding save to keep the score at 1-0 as our boys struggled to produce their best form.

Early in the second half Peter Anizoba went on a run down the left flank and beat the defender nicely to cross for Eric Chidi to level the score. Suddenly there was life in the team and we were immediately back on the attack looking for the winner. But just 2 minutes after equalising, Nadur caught us with a counter-attack and broke away to score their second.

Nadur continued to rest on the lead, as they had done since the 10th minute of the match. They defended in numbers and ran down the clock whenever possible. Even their bench found opportunity to throw away the ball when possible!

We will have opportunity to avenge this defeat and we look forward to it. Meanwhile we play Hotspurs on Thursday evening at 8pm. We really hope to see you all there again at Gozo Stadium. We still believe!
