A late equaliser from Daniel Bogdanovic meant that the points were shared in the latest encounter with league leaders Xewkija. The result means that the title is not decided yet, but Xewkija now enjoy a 5 point lead with 3 games left to play.

The first 10 minutes produced two important incidents which helped decide the path of the match. In the first, Daniel Bogdanovic was brought down in the area by the keeper but the referee waved play on. It seemed a clear penalty as the image above shows. In the second, a counter attack brought Xewkija the opening goal.

Xewkija seemed happy to sit back on their lead and the rest of the game was dominated by the Blues. Unfortunately, at times we were not at our fluent best and were unable to create as many chances as we needed.

The second half started badly as Fernando Giarrizzo was unable to continue due to an injury sustained late in the first period. His absence was felt and we continued to struggle to create clear cut chances.

In one good break forward, Eric Chidi was able to run at the Xewkija goalkeeper who unfairly challenged the striker. The referee did not hesitate in sending off the goalkeeper. However, the resulting free kick did not test the young replacement in goal, and a subsequent free kick from a good position also flew high and wide.

The goal finally came in injury time when Bogdanovic reacted well in the box to hit home. However, it was not enough as the referee soon blew the whistle for full time and the result was 1-1.
