The opening game of the 2015/16 league season saw us pitted against St. Lawrence Spurs. The game started brightly for us as we applied immediate pressure and hit the woodwork 3 times in the first 15 minutes. Add to that a couple of very good saves from the St. Lawrence goalkeeper and it seemed like we might have one of those days.

In the heat it was difficult to maintain the early levels of pressure and half time arrived with the score even.

The second half saw our boys continue to have the best chances, but it took until the 63rd minute to break the deadlock. The St. Lawrence defence misjudged a ball into their box and Eric Chidi pounced for his first goal of the campaign.

As expected, our opponents now showed more ambition and started to apply some pressure in search of an equaliser. However, the mean defensive record that we maintained toward the end of last season saw us hold on to a clean sheet. In the 90th minute, the game was sealed when Lauren Dimech was brought down in the area by the keeper. David Monday converted the penalty to secure the 3 points.

Next week we face the one of the favourites for the title in Ghajnsielem. We look forward to your support.
