Ghajnsielem are top of the league and unbeaten. They boast ex-international players, and vastly experienced locals. But our boys gave them a scare in a tight game at Sannat Ground.

The wind played a part, and in the first half our opponents took advantage and put us under pressure. Our boys will be a little disappointed with the two goals conceded in this period. The first was a series of errors that led to the ball being scrambled over the line by ex-Valletta/Birkirkara striker Jean Pierre Mifsud Triganza. The second was a penalty after a late challenge in the box.

The second half gave us the advantage of the wind and we also used it well putting consistent pressure on their defense. Sam Harland pulled a goal back and then hit the post with a strong header. But they hung on to record a 2-1 victory and take another step toward the title.

We now have a break of 10 days until we face Hotspurs in an important derby on Wednesday 23rd March. We hope to see you all there.
